Well… Here we are. Another year has gone by, bringing us to another Top 10 list here at The Confusing Middle. I thought about skipping this annual tradition this year. Because, even though I made a conscious effort to post something every day, the numbers aren’t exactly earth shattering. Then again, they probably aren’t too earth shattering at any point on any of these annual Top 10 lists.
Out of 414 blog posts in 2020, these are the ones that were viewed the most…
None of the songs I chose for this list came from any official poll. I just picked the ten that I liked the most. But they had to be from animated Disney movies. Nothing live action. Did your favorites make my list?
9 – This Is 40
On my 40th birthday I decided to find out what famous people were also turning 40 in 2020. And movies that turned 40. And some other popular things that turned 40.
At the time of writing this post, I was exactly one month into my current job and I was feeling pretty stressed out by the newness of the position and my struggle with figuring out a regular schedule. Things have gotten easier since then, but a big part of that has to do with being able to work from home about 50% of the time.
Just marking the time since Dad passed away…
Prior to my 40th birthday, I was lamenting the fact that it was entirely unlikely that I would ever be thrown a surprise birthday party. Little did I know that my mom and sister were sneakily planning a surprise party for the week after my birthday. That’s how you get away with it… by planning it for a day that’s not obvious at all.
I think I began this post wondering how people are able to plan their meals for the week and it evolved into how amazing it is that parents manage to prepare meals for entire families. Every. Day. As a single guy, I’m still not sure how to wrap my head around that.
I asked you, the reader, to give me a character’s name, a setting, an emotion, and an object. From there, I took your suggestions and wrote short stories over the course of the next few months. I had a lot of fun with it. I may do this again in the near future. Any interest in that?
I went through my 100 favorite movies over the course of the last couple of years and, for whatever reason, this one resonated with people. Not sure why this movie above all the others made the Top 10.
After living in my current apartment for about six month, I had yet to utilize the fitness center that my amenities fee was helping to pay for. As a follow-up to this post, COVID hit not long after this and our property manager immediately shut down the fitness center as a means of helping to flatten the curve. It has recently reopened, but only to individuals or families who sign up for specific times and agree to clean the equipment before and after use. I still have not used the fitness center.
My thoughts regarding an egregious failure on the part of insurance companies when it comes to understanding the reality that is mental illness. Just reading back through this post made me angry all over again.
That does it for 2020’s most viewed blog posts. I usually do another Top 10 with my personal favorites. I’ll have to sift through all those posts and see if I can find ten that I really like.
