I don’t necessarily keep up with everything that’s happening in the world of celebrities. Most of the time, I just don’t care. I don’t have the E! Network. I don’t watch Entertainment Tonight. I don’t subscribe to Entertainment Weekly. I couldn’t care less that Beyonce is expecting twins, nor do I care what Kim Kardashian thinks about it.
But there are a handful of celebrities that I see interacting with people through social media or actual media and I think, “That’s someone I could hang out with.” When I say it’s a handful, it really is just a handful. Most celebrities, I assume, wouldn’t give a crap about me or what happens in my life. And, in most cases, the feeling would be mutual.
Here are the handful that seem pretty cool… To me, anyway…
4. Jimmy Fallon – This isn’t just because I had a dream that we were in a play together. This is because, in watching his years on Late Night and now The Tonight Show, he appears to be a genuinely fun person to hang out with. I can’t say I’ve seen every show he’s hosted, but I’ve seen a lot. And his guests always seem like they’re having a great time. I mean, if you can make smashing a raw egg on your own head seem like an awesome time, that’s a serious talent.
3. Chris Pratt – He’s another one that just seems like he’d be fun to hang out with. That’s just based on interviews I’ve seen and his interactions on Twitter. And, judging by his charity work, he seems like a genuinely good guy.
2. Anna Kendrick – I just finished reading her book, Scrappy Little Nobody, recently. She strikes me as down to earth as we used to believe Jennifer Lawrence was.
1. Tom Hanks – He’s known to be one of the nicest celebrities that’s out there. He’ll stop and get a selfie with a fan. He’ll show up out of nowhere and make your wedding portraits even more memorable. He posts pictures of single gloves missing their twins on Instagram. He’s this generation’s James Stewart. Who wouldn’t want to be friends with this guy?
