Day One of the Staycation

I’m off work this week. If I were the kind of person who had an emotional range, there’s a good chance I’d smile at that thought. Might even cheer a little.

As you can probably tell from the title of this post, I’m not going anywhere for the vacation. Just staying in my little home town. Exciting, I know.

The way I see it, gas prices are just too friggin’ high to consider traveling anywhere right now. So staycation it is.

Can’t say I slept late this morning. In fact, today wasn’t much more impressive than a typical weekend sort of day. I did laundry. I edited the latest edition of the podcast I’m doing with my cousin (which you can listen to by clicking here). I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole in which I watched a handful of carpet cleaning videos.

Mock if you will… But there’s just something about those carpet cleaning videos that’s incredibly satisfying to watch.

Anyway… Tonight, and for the rest of this week, I’m staying in a local hotel. I don’t know… If I sit in my apartment every day of my vacation and do next to nothing, I’m just going to feel like a slob. If I’m in a hotel room every day of my vacation and do next to nothing, I’ll still at least feel like I’m on vacation. I can pretend like I’m out of town.

I figure I’ll hit the pinball museum at some point this week. Maybe catch a movie or two. Have lunch with an old friend. And I’ve got a couple of books that I’m looking forward to putting a dent in.

What do you think I should do during my staycation?

  1. I think staycations are totally underrated. I have the first and last week of August off and will be doing exactly that! I love the downtime!!

I like this idea of the pinball museum! Pictures and a blog post ppppllleeeaaassseee
