How would it feel to always describe yourself as ordinary, no better or worse than most others? Would it be a relief or a disappointment to realize it was actually true?
I generally do feel pretty much ordinary. I’m okay with that.
Well, I say I’m okay with that. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish I were in a more comfortable socioeconomic position or in a career that brought even a little bit of joy into my life. But I’ve never expected more than the average of myself. I’ve never been provided with extraordinary circumstances or pushed myself at any kind of extraordinary level of effort.
Maybe that means it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. But it is what it is. I’m good with ordinary.
What about you? Are you okay with ordinary or do you strive for the extraordinary? Let me know what you think down in the comments!
