The Blogger Games II – Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of The Blogger Games! Before I reveal this week’s theme and questions, we’re going to take a look back at Week 1 and see who made it onto the podium.

Week 1 – Food

Competitors: Venus, Monty, T, yoyoliving, Paul

1. Which of the following foods will I refuse to eat under any circumstance?
A) Chocolate
B) Spinach
C) Broccoli
D) Peanut Butter

Correct: yoyoliving, Paul

All those other things I can handle. While I don’t necessarily like chocolate, I will crave it occasionally and eat it sparingly. Peanut butter, on the other hand, will often trigger my gag reflex if I simply smell it nearby.

2. What is most frequently my go to bowl of cereal?
A) Frosted Flakes
B) Cinnamon Toast Crunch
C) Rice Krispies
D) Honey-Nut Cheerios

Correct: Monty

Cereal is my go to midnight snack and there is always an open box of Frosted Flakes in my cabinet. They’re grrrrreat!

3. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but which kind of pie do I consider the best?
A) Apple
B) Pumpkin
C) Key Lime
D) Lemon Merengue

Correct: Monty, yoyoliving, Paul

Yeah, Key Lime is the best… It’s just a shame that it has the reputation of only being a summer dessert. Must be because it’s served nearly frozen.

4. What is the only drink I will order at Starbucks?
A) Pumpkin Spice Latte
B) Caramel Apple Spice
C) Caramel Macchiato
D) White Chocolate Mocha w/ Raspberry

Correct: yoyoliving

I can’t stand coffee. Doctor it up all you want with sugar and flavors, I still taste the coffee. Like hot dirt water. The Caramel Apple Spice is a cider drink. It’s like Christmas in a cup. And it isn’t even seasonal!

5. Which condiment would I never put on a hot dog?
A) Mayonnaise
B) Ketchup
C) Mustard
D) Chili

Correct: Paul

I’m not sure what my aversion is to mustard, but I just can’t stand the stuff. And I know, a lot of people think that mayo on a hot dog is weird. But don’t knock it ’til you try it.

6. As a kid, when enjoying a glass of chocolate milk, what did I use to change the white milk to chocolate?
A) Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup
B) Ovaltine
C) Nestle Quik
D) Swiss Miss Cocoa Mix

Correct: T, Paul

There was just something fun about squeezing that bottle and pouring the chocolate syrup into that glass of 2% and then stirring it up with a spoon. I guess the powdered mixes would have been just as fun to mix in, but I’ll never know. Because we were a Hershey’s family.

7. Which fast food chain did I avoid until my early teens because I mistakenly believed that, as a picky eater, I could not specially request what I wanted?
A) Burger King
B) Taco Bell
C) Subway
D) Wendy’s

Correct: Paul

I feel like it was super irrational of me to have the belief that ordering a sandwich at Subway meant that they would always include the works. I had never even set foot inside a Subway to realize that you take the journey with the sandwich you order and watch as they stuff the bread with exactly what you ask for. I wish I had filled that gap in my knowledge long before I was 15.

8. What is my favorite flavor of Pop-Tart?
A) Apple Cinnamon
B) Grape
C) Frosted Strawberry
D) Unfrosted Strawberry

Correct: Monty, yoyoliving, Paul

I feel like I’m gonna catch a lot of crap for this. It’s not that I don’t like the frosting on the Pop-Tart. It’s just that sometimes my teeth can be sensitive to the sweetness, which can be avoided with the unfrosted version.

9. What is my preferred salad dressing?
A) Thousand Island
B) Ranch
C) Honey Mustard
D) Italian

Correct: yoyoliving, Paul

I know… I have an aversion to mustard, but if you mix honey in, it becomes a completely different thing. And it’s delicious poured over a bed of spinach leaves.

10. Which of the following topping combinations do I like on my pizza?
A) Chicken, Bacon, and Sausage
B) Pepperoni and Mushrooms
C) Ham and Pineapple
D) Peppers, Onions, and Sausage

Correct: yoyoliving, Paul

Also referred to as “the carnivore.” Oh yeah… that’s the good stuff. I mean, probably not good for you. But it sure does taste good.

Total
1. Paul – 8
2. yoyoliving – 6
3. Monty – 3
4. T – 1
5. Venus – 0

  1. Mayo on hot dogs…I was wrong! You ARE a monster. I’m going to have to rethink my whole strategy for this round. I’ve got to somehow channel the spirit of a Mayo on hot dog kinda guy. I’m gonna go lick my wounds and mull this over.

  2. My first quiz in almost a decade and I get 80%! Thrilled with the outcome.

I didn’t mention it in my post, but I didn’t try Subway until I was 20. I always went to the Canadian sub place, Mr. Sub. But my first time at Subway, my friend had to coach me through how to order. For some reason, it felt very complicated and then it clicked “oh, I get to tell them my toppings just like the other place”. So I definitely understand where you were coming from.
