Welcome back to Bloganuary, the daily encouragement from WordPress for bloggers to post something each day. Today’s prompt asks to: How do you feel when you look at the stars?

Small… I feel very small.

Because, especially if I’m in an area where there is little to no light pollution, allowing me to see more stars than I can see from my own home, I can’t help but allow my mind to explore the concept of just how impossibly large the universe is.

I know that it isn’t infinite… but I also know that it’s large enough that it may as well be infinite because it is a concept that my mind cannot fully grasp. And to know I’m only seeing the tiniest fraction of it from my corner of the globe… mindshattering.

So that’s how I feel when I look at the stars. I feel small.
