Welcome back to Bloganuary, the daily encouragement from WordPress for bloggers to post something each day. Today’s prompt asks: Where do you go when you need solitude?
Home.
I just go home.
I go home and sit on my sofa and watch YouTube videos. Or I crawl into my bed and pull the comforter over my head so I can block out the light and pretend it’s already night time so I can fall asleep.
I enjoy my solitude and, for me, it doesn’t take a lot to achieve it. I can be anywhere, really. As long as I’m alone.
I like taking long drives in my car by myself, as long as I can afford the gas, that is.
I like vacationing alone and have often done so. In fact, the only real vacations that have involved anyone else have been the kinds of vacations where I go stay with friends or family for a week. I’ve never traveled anywhere with anyone in my adult life. I don’t have anyone that close to me. I’m not sure anyone would want to be that close to me.
I know… I got a couple of comments yesterday about the negative self-talk. I hear you. But that’s where I’m at right now. Can’t really be helped.
On the plus side, I just made contact with a local therapist who’s taking new clients so… fingers crossed.
Anyway, even as a kid, I was captivated by the idea that even Superman had a Fortress of Solitude. I think that, no matter who you are, even if you’re the most extroverted extrovert out there, we all need a little alone time every now and then. Some of us just happen to prefer it to being around others.
