Thanks to my history of reading lots and lots of DC Comics, I always associate the word bold with the word brave, thanks to a longtime comic book title, The Brave and the Bold. If I remember correctly, these comics would generally pair two superheroes together. I’m pretty sure it was usually Batman and someone else… Aquaman, Green Arrow, Red Tornado, Blue Devil… all the colorful heroes.

Anyway, I always have that association in my mind. But there’s also the Star Trek creed, claiming that part of their mission is to “boldly go where no one has gone before.”

I guess my answer to today’s question is that it means to live life uninhibited. To be brave and take certain risks. To do so boldly may also mean being brash to a certain extent. It may mean leaping without a net. It certainly means identifying what it is you want out of life and just going for it. Damn the consequences.
