I’ll admit, I haven’t been the best about staying current on my blog. Or anyone else’s for that matter. It’s been a crazy summer. Car problems. Moving out. Moving in. Please don’t look for anything regular from me for a while.
But I’m honored that other bloggers still think of me from time to time. Recently, Suzi over at My Colourful Life nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award. This is one I’ve actually received previously, but it’s always fun to participate in these recognition posts. Thanks for thinking of me, Suzi!
I’m gonna mention the rules, but I already know I’m not gonna follow all the rules. I’m a loner, Dottie. A rebel. (I’m pretty sure I’ve used that quote before in my attempt to be funny about not following the rules, but since no one guessed the film it’s from, I’m doing it again.)

Mystery Blogger Award Origin…
“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion. – Okoto Enigma
3 Things About Me…
- For someone who is typically laid back and relaxed, I’m under a great deal of stress these days and I’m actually feeling the effects.
- I cannot wait until I reach the point where this, too, has passed. Living in my new apartment. Driving my car as if nothing was ever wrong with it.
- I’m ready for winter. It’s just too hot outside.
- What is the biggest lesson you have learned in your time blogging?
Not to care what other people think. I’m not gonna lie, it’d be fantastic to wake up someday and discover that my blog has gone viral and suddenly I’m famous and someone wants me to write a book that’s gonna make me tons of money. But I started writing a blog way back in the day because I just wanted to write. I was never much for journaling, but that’s mostly because I hate my handwriting and despise the hand cramp that comes from writing for more than ten minutes at a time. Typing on a blank screen and sharing my thoughts with strangers on the internet just made sense to me. I don’t know why… it just did. Still does. And sometimes there are strangers who don’t like what I have to say. But I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter. If someone doesn’t like what I’m writing, they can go somewhere else. Sure, negative comments bother me from time to time. But, in the end, the negatives are meaningless and are far outweighed by the positives I get from people. Bonus: I’ve learned that you can become amazing friends with people all over the world without ever meeting them face to face.
- If you could travel to any planet which one would it be and how would you get there?
There are so many variables to this. I honestly wouldn’t want to go to any other planets because I kind of love the creature comforts available here on Earth. I think about the possibility of people colonizing Mars and think about how difficult life will be for those humans. If space travel became a common and affordable practice, I’d be happy to visit Mars, knowing I’d be able to return to Earth at some point. But I know, even that would be a commitment of several years. If they were to discover an Earth-like planet that we could travel to through use of suspended animation or something, I might be up for that. Like the movie Passengers. But then I think about all the problems that happened for Chris Pratt… That’s a lot of trust to put in the company transporting the colonists. I pass… Can I just stay on Earth?
- Do you ever give your cars (or other transportation) names?
Yes… You can read all about Fiona here, here, and here. I should probably provide another update. That last one was three weeks ago.
- What’s your weirdest habit?
I’d have to ask someone else that one. To me, my habits are normal. I like to have the volume on my TV set to a prime number. That’s probably weird.
- What are your 3 desert island must haves?
Something with which to easily start fires. Something with which to easily catch fish. And a beautiful woman who would definitely be out of my league in the real world but who I probably don’t get along with at all at first, but then because neither of us have any other options, we begin to see the best qualities in each other and eventually fall in love because, hey, desert islands are super romantic.
And that’s all the rule-following I’ll be doing today. I’m not gonna pick any bloggers to pass this on to and I’m not gonna come up with my own questions to not pass along. But if you would like to answer Suzi’s questions, I’d be curious to see your answers in the comments!
