Question of the Week #77

Do you feel ill at ease going alone to either dinner or a movie? What about going on a vacation by yourself?

I do dinner and movies by myself all the time. Well, not all the time. Money gets tight from time to time. But I have no problem with it. Sure, these things are more fun when other people are invovled. Especially dinner. I find you draw strange looks when you’re engaged in dinner conversation with yourself. You may or may not be asked to leave the restaurant before you finish your meal. And, no, I am not speaking from experience. I don’t really get why going to the movies is such a group thing. I mean, I like going to movies with groups. But you can’t talk to people while you’re in the movies. Is it just a fear of being alone in the dark with a bunch of strangers?

I recently went on vacation by myself. It was fantastic. You should read all about it on my recent blog posts detailing that solo vacay. There’s just something relaxing about not being tied down to anyone’s schedule but your own. Besides, it’s all just good practice for when the inevitable happens…Day Eighteen - Die AloneWhat about you? How do you feel about doing these sorts of things alone? Let me know in the comments…

  1. A couple of years ago I went to a restaurant for lunch by myself and posted a picture of my food on Facebook with a caption that alluded to a table for one. All of a sudden people were commenting, “you should’ve invited me”. Haha the joke was on them, I didn’t wanna go with anyone but myself! It’s actually fun. And you make a great point about the movies.
