Because today is National Muffin Day, our Sunday Scribblings prompt for this week is Muffin. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…
The first thing that comes to mind when I see the word muffin is the exchange between Lord Farquad and the Gingerbread Man in Shrek. “Not my gumdrop buttons!”
Another that comes to mind is a slightly less appropriate but also hilarious sketch from Saturday Night Live. It was that time when Betty White was the host and they did one of those NPR sketches where she discussed, in some detail, why her muffins were so popular. So much innuendo. I miss Betty.
Muffins aren’t a baked good that I find myself eating too often. My favorite tends to be the blueberry variety. And I remember there would be times growing up when Dad would bake blueberry muffins for breakfast on some Saturday or Sunday mornings. It was the kind of thing I could smell as I woke up. Then I would stumble my way to the kitchen and get one fresh out of the oven. Good stuff.
I have never made muffins myself, though I do have a blueberry muffin mix that has been sitting in my cabinet forever. Maybe I should bake those this morning…
Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.
Be sure to come back on Wednesday for the next Sunday Scribblings prompt! Encourage other bloggers to challenge themselves with the prompt! Remember that there are no rules for what you write, other than responding to the prompt! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, biography, instruction… it’s all up to you!

What kind of muffin mix you got?? If it is those simple “just add water!” ones I gotta say they aren’t the best 🙁 The other ones are good though and I hope you enjoy them!! I can see why one may not be the biggest muffin fan, but I think when you get the right one…they are so good. My favorite is Otis Spunkmeyer yum

The brand I have (that I still haven’t used) is Martha White. I don’t think you just add water… I think milk is involved. Maybe an egg… I just remember that being the brand that Dad used to buy when I was growing up and remembering how good they were. I just still haven’t gotten around to baking them yet…
