Question of the Week #304

Would you rather vacation somewhere new with a friend who knew the ins and outs of the place or with one who, like you, was seeing it for the first time?

I’m not sure that it would matter to me. I mean, if this is a friend I’m willing to go on vacation with, then it must be someone that I’m extremely close to. Because I generally prefer to vacation alone. Because, for me, vacation means finding quiet, relaxing, alone time that I might not normally get during a typical work week.

So whether this friend had inside knowledge of this vacation destination or not, they would really need to understand my desire to just hang out in a quiet place by myself for a while without being forced to do touristy things from time to time. And, like I said, if this is someone I’m going on vacation with, we must be real freakin’ close, so that person would likely understand that.

But what about you? If you were to vacation with a friend, would you want that friend to be someone who can show you the sights or looks at the location with the same fresh eyes that you have? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Definitely someone who knew the place better than me! My vacation fear is getting lost in a city I don’t know. So I’d rather they know where to go.

I’m also a person who needs their quiet but for vacation I will rally. Spend a week running to all the touristy places and then a week of rest haha thats the perfect vacation!
