Because today is Fragrance Day, our Sunday Scribblings prompt for this week is Fragrance. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…
Fragrances don’t really do a lot for me.
If I get too close to a Bath & Body Works for too long, I’m walking away with a headache thanks to so many overpowering aromas wafting out of the store. Therefore, I’m not one to indulge in any sort of cologne or aftershave. And I never pay attention others wearing perfume… unless they’ve bathed in it.
I don’t seem to have much of an issue with scented candles, especially the ones that smell lightly of baked goods like apple or pumpkin pie. Unfortunately, there’s a line in my lease that forbids the lighting of candles inside my apartment. Something about the risk of starting a fire… I don’t know. I think it’s a case of the property owners being a little overprotective, but who am I to argue.
I keep a can of Febreze in the closet to help keep things fairly neutral as far as odors go. But too much of that can bother me, too. It hits the sinuses… I start to sneeze… my eyes water… then the headache hits.
So I’m not a particular fan of fragrances. I don’t have a problem with people who are. I just won’t stick around for too long if some flowery aroma is coming off of you in waves. Don’t take it personally.
Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.
Be sure to come back on Wednesday for the next Sunday Scribblings prompt! Encourage other bloggers to challenge themselves with the prompt! Remember that there are no rules for what you write, other than responding to the prompt! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, biography, instruction… it’s all up to you!
I have the same reaction, Aaron! Ugh!! But I do love my perfume, it took a while to get the right scent that didn’t make me die. But I am a sucker for a good cologne haha

I don’t wear any perfume now although I did like White Musk for a while. My favorite scents are vanilla and cinnamon. My husband wears cologne and sometimes I think his sense of smell is as bad as his hearing because it is so strong it knocks me over!
