A Dater’s Guide to Disney Princesses

Ask anyone, even a guy, who their favorite Disney princess is, and there’s a good chance they’ll have an answer for you. Chances are, they’ll have a well thought out answer. According to the official Disney Princess homepage, there are currently eleven Disney princesses in their lineup. Each of these fictional, animated characters shares the common thread of being featured in one or more films. But each was also created to have her own unique personality. These unique personalities have made it possible for people to choose their favorites over the years.

Cinderella - Sarah Michelle Gellar.gifSo how do people choose a favorite? Is it how they look? What dress they’re drawn in? Singing ability? Willingness to frolic with tiny woodland creatures? Beginning this Tuesday, and continuing on each Tuesday for the next few months, I will provide a guide to just how date-able each of these princesses really is. Or, would be, if they actually existed in the real world. If the Disney princes had had this primer before their movies premiered, some may have had second thoughts. Others would probably think, Yeah, I picked the right one! So stay tuned as I cover each of the princesses on the following list…

  • Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
  • Cinderella (Cinderella)
  • Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
  • Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
  • Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
  • Jasmine (Aladdin)
  • Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
  • Mulan (Mulan)
  • Tiana (The Princess and the Frog)
  • Rapunzel (Tangled)
  • Merida (Brave)

Also, I will include some princesses that Disney has not included in their official lineup. Some of these ladies, I have no clue why they’re not included, especially when I look at the list and see names of women who are not actual royalty, but I’m counting them. They will be included in order of appearance, meaning that they’ll be sprinkled in between some of the official princesses. They are:

  • Leia (Star Wars)
  • Eilonwy (The Black Cauldron)
  • Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
  • Giselle (Enchanted)
  • Elsa (Frozen; and I know she’s a queen, but she was a princess at the beginning, so I count her)
  • Anna (Frozen)
