Would you be happier with more control over what happens in your life or more control over your response to what happens? How could you gain more such control?
I feel like I already have complete control over my response to what happens in my life. If I can’t control my response to things, doesn’t that make me incompetent to stand trial?
Not that I’m on trial.
I object!
Overruled!
No, you’re out of order!
…
I don’t know what just happened there. Please, forgive me. I think I lost control over my response to myself for a minute.
Look, if I learned anything from both reading and watching Jurassic Park and all of its ridiculous sequels, it’s that control is an illusion. To think we have real control over anything is folly. Therefore, I don’t think that gaining more control over what happens is necessarily a possibility.
I guess I’m good with the way things are. No real control over circumstances, but genuine control over how I respond to those circumstances.
But what about you? Would you like to have more control over what happens or how you respond? Let me know down in the comments!
