Interview Questions from Hollie and Melanie

Because I got so many questions, I’m breaking up my answers into separate blog posts. I’m not complaining. I like getting all these questions. In fact, if anyone wants to just keep asking questions, I say bring them on, whether I post a special “interview me” blog or not.

In this post we get questions from two fellow bloggers. The first is from Hollie, who you can follow at My Blog Is My Boyfriend. She asks…

What is the best book you’ve ever read?

That one’s easy. The correct answer is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I know it isn’t the first book I ever received and it’s not the first one I ever read. But it’s the one that stands out the most in my memory. I’ve read it dozens of times and I love it every time. It’s probably not the kind of book that will change someone’s life, but it’s fun. Fairy tales are always good for an escape, and this one is a truly American fairy tale.

The next questions come from Melanie, who you can follow at AmusingMyselfMusings (took liberties with the capitalization of the words in the title… hope that’s all right). She asks…

Why is such an awesome guy like Aaron still single? Does he hide his awesomeness from the ladies out in the real world and only show us online how wonderful of a person he is?

First, thank you for the compliment. The simple answer is that I’m still single because I choose it. I can give this song and dance about how someone somewhere done me wrong at some point in my life. I can talk all day long about how I’m introverted and just don’t like to put myself out there or that I’m afraid of the possibility of rejection. But it really comes down to a choice. Yeah, I’m introverted and playing with others isn’t my forte, but I can socialize with the best of them when I want to. I will say it’s much easier to let my awesomeness leak out online because I’m hiding behind my keyboard. When I’m talking, face to face, with a woman I’m attracted to, nervousness tends to take over and I forget how to use words. Or I lose control of the volume and speed at which I speak. It’s awkward. And then there’s the sweating. Good Lord, how there is sweating. Lately, though, it seems like more and more people are all about the set up. I’m not a big fan because it’s always awkward. I can only assume people are more apt to try and set me up because I’m in my mid-thirties and still single. And maybe that’s the way it needs to go. The last girl I asked out of my own accord said no and moved out of the state, so… yeah.

Stay tuned for more answers later today!

  1. Hooray! I feel honored that you chose to answer my question Aaron! ♡ I totally respect your choice to remain single. I also totally get the awkwardness of being set up and the frustrating crap that goes along with trying to date. So long as you are content with your current arrangements in life, and chugging along, then I’m happy that’s how it is! Xoxoxoxo love ya lots! ♡ Melanie
