Welcome to the second event of The Blogger Games III! Today, we’re challenging your creativity and concision with the Six-Word Story Marathon!

Before we begin our 2nd event, I want to thank Tryna for being our only participant in yesterday’s speed blogging competition. Of course that means that she is our only contestant at this point and is, therefore, our leader in scoring. But that doesn’t mean it’s too late for others to join in! Participate in as many or as few events as you want! Remember there are Amazon gift cards on the line!

Event Description

Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s famous six-word story (“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”), this event challenges you to craft multiple six-word stories within a set time frame. Your goal is to create as many compelling, diverse, and emotionally resonant stories as possible using exactly six words each.

Rules

1. Time Frame: You will have exactly 2 hours to write your six-word stories, starting from the moment you comment your start time below.
2. Story Requirements:
   • Each story must be exactly six words. No more, no less.
   • Each story should be a complete narrative with a beginning, middle, and end.
   • Stories can be on any topic or genre.
3. Quantity: There is no minimum or maximum number of stories you must write. Focus on quality, but remember that quantity also plays a role in scoring.
4. Submission:
   • Publish your stories as a single blog post on your own blog.
   • The post should be titled “Blogger Games III: Six-Word Story Marathon”
   • List your stories one after another, with a blank line between each story.
   • Return to this post and leave a comment with the link to your published piece before the 2-hour mark.
5. Time Stamp: The time stamps of your comments linking to the post will be used to verify the 2-hour limit.
6. Originality: All stories must be original and created within the 2-hour window. No pre-written content is allowed.
7. Editing: No edits are allowed after the 2-hour mark. The post must remain as-is until judging is complete.

Scoring System

An objective third party will judge each entry based on the following criteria:

1. Creativity (0-30 points): Originality and inventiveness of the stories.
2. Emotional Impact (0-30 points): The ability of the stories to evoke feelings or reactions.
3. Diversity of Themes (0-20 points): The range of topics, genres, or emotions covered across all stories.
4. Quantity (0-20 points):
   • 1-5 stories: 5 points
   • 6-10 stories: 10 points
   • 11-15 stories: 15 points
   • 16+ stories: 20 points
5. Technical Correctness (0-10 points): Proper use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Deductions:

• Stories with more or less than six words: -2 points each
• Submission after the 2-hour mark: Disqualification

Maximum possible score: 110 points

Reminder

Remember, an objective third party will be scoring this event. Their decision is final.

Results for this event will be announced tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM EDT, along with the reveal of the third event. Make sure to check back for the leaderboard update!
