As a diehard Potterhead, I’ve spent more time than I’d care to admit pondering the inner workings of the wizarding world. And one question that’s always nagged at me is – what exactly do Death Eaters do when they’re not carrying out Voldemort’s evil bidding?
I mean, You-Know-Who can’t possibly require their presence 24/7 right? Even the most devoted followers must need some time off for a bit of light torture or recreational Muggle abuse. So when they’re not donning those ominous masks and dark capes, what fills the average workday for You-Know-Who’s minions?
Given their affinity for rule-breaking, I’d guess the Ministry would frown upon employing known Death Eaters. Though who knows, maybe some of them have cushy desk jobs at the Ministry to act as spies! But my money is on most Death Eaters having shadier side-gigs that let them stay under the radar.
I could totally see Bellatrix Lestrange running some kind of Dark Arts boot camp for aspiring witches and wizards seeking extra bad-guy training. But watch out for her Cruciatus Curse workshops… I hear they can drive you mad!
And imagine Fenrir Greyback offering private tutoring sessions to help young werewolves embrace their beastly natures. He’d be the perfect monstrous mentor!
As for the refined Lucius Malfoy, perhaps he dabbles in the antique trade, procuring cursed artifacts and questionable magical objects to sell to other dark wizards. A hobby that inducts him into high society while also generating funds for Death Eater activities… it’s the best of both worlds.
In any case, while their day jobs remain a mystery, one thing’s for certain… Death Eaters know how to have a killer work-life balance. Sure, they devote themselves to evil, but even the most committed servants of darkness need to kick back with some recreational Muggle-torturing now and then!
What do you think Death Eaters do 9 to 5? Share your theories in the comments! I’d love to hear other Harry Potter fanatics’ takes on the secret day jobs of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’s followers.
