Four – Bloganuary

Welcome to Bloganuary. It’s this thing that WordPress is doing to encourage bloggers to post something every day by providing a regular prompt. I think that “Bloguary” would not only sound better but makes more sense. Maybe they’re saving that for next month. But if they go with Blogebruary I’m dropping out. Anyway, today’s prompt asks the question: What is the greatest gift someone could give you?

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears! I come to you today with tidings of great joy – the joy that can only come from the snap of Lego bricks and the slow, methodical construction of a new Lego set.

As many of you know, I have a bit of an obsession with Lego. Some may call it a hobby, but I prefer to think of it as a passion bordering on fanaticism. There’s just something so satisfying about sorting through a pile of tiny plastic bricks to create something new. I love the challenge of following complex instructions, hunting for that one tiny piece buried in the bag, feeling the satisfaction when everything finally clicks into place.

So what gift could possibly bring me greater happiness than a brand new, high-piece-count Lego set? I’m talking 3,000+ pieces. The kind of set that takes days to complete, with intricate mechanisms and hidden surprises. A set so epic it requires its own table space permanently devoted to its construction and display. A set so challenging it tests the limits of my spatial reasoning skills.

Give me the NASA Apollo Saturn V rocket with 1,969 pieces. Give me the 4,016 piece Star Wars Millennium Falcon. Give me the 9,036 piece Taj Mahal or the 7,541 piece Roman Colosseum. The more complex, the better. Don’t even think about getting me one of those 200 piece sets meant for kids – those are mere warm ups! If it can be finished in an afternoon, I don’t want it.

Of course, I realize these top-tier Lego sets don’t come cheap. But just think of the hours of enjoyment they would provide as I while away the days snapping bricks, following diagrams, and watching something beautiful slowly take shape before my eyes. It’s like zen meditation, problem solving, and artistry all rolled into one. The feeling of satisfaction when the final piece clicks into place is unmatched.

So if you’re wondering what to get me for my birthday, Christmas, or any gift giving occasion, look no further. Forget ties, cologne, or gift cards. Get me a nice, complicated Lego set and you’ll see a grown man giggling with glee like a kid on Christmas morning. Just make sure it’s got at least 3,000 pieces – anything less would be a disappointment.

Let me know in the comments – what’s the most epic Lego set you’ve ever built? I’d love to hear about your experiences and recommendations! Until next time, friends – may your bricks snap cleanly and your builds stand sturdily.
