Scribble

Because today is National Scribble Day, our Sunday Scribblings prompt for this week is Scribble. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…

I started doing Sunday Scribblings on my blog because I missed Sunday Scribblings. For several years, when I was blogging on a different platform, I was connected to a blog that was actually called Sunday Scribblings. I never knew the people who ran that blog and I can’t say I ever interacted with them beyond checking their page for the weekly prompt and then leaving my link when I gave my Sunday response. I was bummed when they closed up shop.

When I began posting my own weekly prompts under the heading of Sunday Scribblings, I guess a part of me hoped that it would develop the same kind of cult following that the original enjoyed. That really hasn’t happened and I haven’t seen any of the names or blog titles that used to leave their links with Sunday Scribblings back in the day. There was a time when there would be dozens of links to click through, just to see how they interpreted that week’s prompt.

You know what, though? It’s okay that there’s no cult following like the original Sunday Scribblings had. I can’t tell you how incredibly grateful I have been for the faithful few who have come back here week after week and taken the time to respond in their own blog posts and share their links with us. Because that’s the whole point. It’s not about how many people I can get to leave a link and connect to my blog. It’s about how many new people’s blogs I can connect my own readers to.

So if you’re one of those who keep on participating each Sunday, thank you. Know that I always look forward to seeing your post and reading whatever it is you have to say. To those who see the prompt each Wednesday and convince yourselves not to write something even though you might have an idea of how you may respond, I encourage you to take that leap. Because I would love to see and share your post and read what’s on your mind.

And in honor of the word of the day, I’m reminded of an old sketch from Space Ghost Coast to Coast in which Brak described a time when he was in school…

Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.

Be sure to come back on Wednesday for the next Sunday Scribblings prompt! Encourage other bloggers to challenge themselves with the prompt! Remember that there are no rules for what you write, other than responding to the prompt! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, biography, instruction… it’s all up to you!

  1. I’m glad you took the leap yourself and started up your own series! Sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me blogging each week because I either don’t have the time or motivation to write anything else.

ps: I was all excited that even though I was late writing my post this week, I was still gonna beat your post cos I didn’t get an email of this post existing! So I opened the Wednesday post and refollowed your blog because it said that I wasn’t?! So sad!! Anyway, here I am refollowing and hoping that you hadn’t taken me off your list on purpose haha

    • Yeah, I was confused when I got the alert this morning saying you were following my blog now… I don’t know how you were removed. I haven’t edited my followers in years. I probably should do that, though… since I was followed yesterday by a profile titled: Get 1 Year Free Netflix Subscription… Seems legit.
