Because today is Oatmeal Muffin Day, our Sunday Scribblings prompt for this week is Oatmeal. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…

I’m never sure how I feel about oatmeal. I mean… I like it… but I don’t. It’s good… but it’s not.

Oatmeal, for me, is a conundrum. I have several packets of instant oatmeal in my kitchen cabinet. They are, of course, the maple and brown sugar flavor of oatmeal. Is there any other kind?

Yes, I know there are other flavors and there is also just plain oatmeal. But maple and brown sugar is what I like and it’s what I’ll eat. Except that I rarely ever eat it. Those packets of instant oatmeal have been sitting in that cabinet for a very long time. So long, in fact, I should probably be concerned about whether or not instant oatmeal has an expiration date.

Okay… I mean… What is there to say about oatmeal? It’s a nice warm breakfast food on a cold morning. The instant varieties are easy to make if you have a microwave handy. It’s quick and filling.

And that’s all I’ve got. Oatmeal is boring…

Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.

Be sure to come back on Wednesday for the next Sunday Scribblings prompt! Encourage other bloggers to challenge themselves with the prompt! Remember that there are no rules for what you write, other than responding to the prompt! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, biography, instruction… it’s all up to you!

  1. I do the same with those instant packages. But I like the peaches and cream one. The maple brown sugar is really good too! But my dilemma is that one package never makes me feel full and two is too much. If I have a craving for “oatmeal”, I would much rather have cream of wheat, not proper oatmeal.
