Because today is Be Late For Something Day, our Sunday Scribblings prompt for this week is Late. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…
I am very rarely late to anything. In fact, I’d say that I arrive early for things 98% of the time. To me, if I arrive on time, I feel like I’m late.
When I was in college, if I thought I would be late for a class, I just wouldn’t go. I’d rather miss the whole thing than show up a few minutes late.
I don’t usually take time to sleep late. When I do, I often find that it’s something I can’t do. Most weekends, I have no need to set an alarm, so sleeping late becomes a real option. Only I still wake up around 6 or 7 o’clock.
This morning I managed to sleep late. I don’t know how I pulled it off, but I didn’t wake up until just before 10:00. And as good as it can feel to sleep that late, I’m not sure I like doing it. Because I feel like I’ve wasted a part of my day.
Not that I had any plans to do anything today. I’d actually managed to get my paperwork done early this week, so I have nothing work related to deal with today. And tomorrow’s a holiday… And since I don’t have a car at the moment, I’ll just be hanging out here at home doing a lot of nothing.
Oh… why don’t I have a car? It’s in the shop. It’s a bit of a long story but she died on Thursday and it turns out I need a new fuel pump. This is not a cheap fix, unfortunately. But I should have it back by Tuesday evening. Ugh.
Anyway, that has nothing to do with being late.
Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.
Be sure to come back on Wednesday for the next Sunday Scribblings prompt! Encourage other bloggers to challenge themselves with the prompt! Remember that there are no rules for what you write, other than responding to the prompt! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, biography, instruction… it’s all up to you!

Oh man! I feel this sleeping late thing! I am the exact same! When school ended in June, I turned off my alarm for all of July and most of August. It took over a month to be able to sleep in past 6:45, most days I was up around 6:30, and then it was time to set an alarm again haha! This weekend, since I had a full week of going to work for the first time since March, I slept in until 8:30 yesterday! But then I felt sluggish and off all day cos I slept so long. And, just like you, I felt like I had wasted that time because I had things to do.
