Raging Bull
1980
Directed by Martin Scorsese
Netflix says… Robert De Niro won an Oscar for his portrayal of self-destructive boxer Jake LaMotta in Martin Scorsese’s widely acclaimed biopic, which paints a raw portrait of a tormented soul unable to control his violent outbursts.
You know, as much as I like a decent boxing movie, this one didn’t do a whole lot for me. Actually, I might need someone out there to explain to me exactly why this movie is considered one of the greatest movies of all time.
To me, it just kind of is… I mean, it’s just a movie. It’s just there. It’s a biopic about a boxer. If I’m gonna watch a movie about a boxer, I’m pretty sure I’d rather watch Rocky.
Look, I won’t argue with someone who wants to legitimately explain to me why this movie is so great. I would just like to hear the explanation. Because, other than that, I got nothing else to say… If you’ve got more for me, let me know in the comments.
