Welcome to Rewatching Buffy, the part of the blog where I rewatch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Each Tuesday evening, you’re invited to join me as I attempt to rediscover what made me love this show 20 years ago.
Revelations
- At the Bronze, Xander and Willow are still acting weird around each other. And their significant others. It’s awfully suspicious.
- Buffy and Faith patrol together. They dust two vampires while Giles watches. Then their slaying is critiqued by a suspicious British lady.
- Mrs. Gwendolyn Post introduces herself as Faith’s new Watcher.
- Mrs. Post also critiques Giles’ collection of books and says that she’s there to report back to the Watcher’s Council on how things are going in Sunnydale.
- She also states that a demon, Lagos, is on its way to Sunnydale in search for the Glove of Mynhegon. Apparently this is some kind of powerful weapon.
- Buffy asks if they can kill Mrs. Post. Probably foreshadowing.
- Buffy does Tai Chi with Angel. So that’s what they’re calling it these days…
- Uh oh… they almost kiss…
- Willow and Xander keep finding themselves alone. And kissing.
- Stop trying to make Xander and Willow a thing!
- Giles discovers where the magic glove is found, so Xander is gonna go check out the crypt and report back to Buffy.
- Faith and Buffy patrol, but they split up. Faith comes across Lagos searching for the glove. Gets her butt handed to her.
- Meanwhile, Xander spies Angel taking the glove from the crypt where it was housed.
- He follows. Then, at the mansion, he spies Angel and Buffy making out.
- Uh oh… things do not look good for our heroine.
- On a more serious note, Angel shows Buffy the glove and warns her not to touch it.
- Once you put it on it can never be removed.
- Xander informs everyone of Angel’s return. They gang up on her, intervention style.
- They’re all angry/upset/disappointed. Giles in particular.
- By hiding Angel, he feels that Buffy has no respect for him or his position as her Watcher.
- Mrs. Post spills the beans to Faith that Buffy and her friends are having secret meetings.
- Sort of sounds like she’s trying to drive a wedge between Slayers.
- Xander spills the beans to Faith that Angel is back from hell and has the glove.
- Giles lets Mrs. Post know where the glove is, and that (even though he’s not happy about the Angel situation) it’s safe there.
- He’s also figured out a way to destroy the glove.
- Apparently this doesn’t make Mrs. Post happy. Because she knocks him out.
- Man, Giles must be dealing with some serious brain damage. Dude gets knocked out, like, every other episode.
- Giles has had more concussions than your average NFL season.
- Too soon?
- Buffy and Willow are out waiting for Lagos. Willow almost spills the beans about her and Xander, but Lagos attacks.
- Buffy beheads the demon.
- Faith and Xander find Giles unconscious. Faith assumes it’s Angel. Xander is pretty sure this isn’t Angel’s style. Or Angelus for that matter.
- Angel is performing the living flame ritual to try and destroy the glove.
- Buffy gets to the library in time to see Giles carted off by the paramedics.
- Xander lets her know that Faith is on her way to take out Angel.
- Mrs. Post shows up at the mansion to “help” destroy the glove.
- She tries to knock out Angel. They fight.
- Faith walks in and sees Angel and Mrs. Post going at it.
- Bad circumstances, but she goes after Angel. Buffy stops her.
- Buffy versus Faith. Round one.
- Mrs. Post puts the glove on. So she is evil.
- She pretty much attacks everyone.
- Angel saves Willow, proving himself.
- Buffy cuts off Mrs. Post’s arm, separating her from the glove, which causes her to be incinerated.
- Faith is gonna have some pretty serious trust issues.
- Turns out Mrs. Post was kicked out of the Watchers Council for misuse of dark artifacts.
- Body Count: Vampires – 2; Demons – 1; Humans – 1
