Welcome to Bloganuary. It’s this thing that WordPress is doing to encourage bloggers to post something every day by providing a regular prompt. I think that “Bloguary” would not only sound better but makes more sense. Maybe they’re saving that for next month. But if they go with Blogebruary I’m dropping out. Anyway, today’s prompt asks the question: Come up with a crazy business idea.

Peckapalooza here with an off-the-wall business idea that’s sure to make waves. I call it… drum roll please… Pet Rock Rentals!

That’s right – pet rocks, those silly gag gifts from the 70s, are making a comeback as the hottest new rental item. Here’s the biz model: customers go online and rent a pet rock for a month at a time. We’ll have all kinds of fancy designer pet rocks like Crystal, Sapphire, and Diamond. Customers can dress their rented rocks up with tiny little outfits and accessories. At the end of the rental period, they just send ‘em back to us and we send out a new rock. It’s like having a pet with none of the responsibilities!

Now, you may be thinking, “Aaron, isn’t this just a more ridiculous version of those toy rental services for kids?” To which I say – yeah, pretty much! But think about the possibilities here, people. This could expand into an entire pet rock ecosystem. We could have pet rock trainers offer obedience classes, pet rock grooming salons, even pet rock daycares so busy professionals don’t have to leave their darling rocks home alone all day. There could be pet rock influencers making big bucks on social media!

The pet rock rental market is just sitting there waiting to be tapped.
