The Graduate
1967
Directed by Mike Nichols
Netflix says… In this Oscar-winning classic with an iconic Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack, Dustin Hoffman turns in a landmark performance as a naive college grad who is seduced by middle-aged neighbor Mrs. Robinson but ends up falling in love with her daughter.
I couldn’t help but notice, during the scene where Benjamin gets into the pool in full scuba attire, when the audience is looking at things from his perspective, the mask fills with water. Did that bother anyone else? Probably just me. Otherwise it wouldn’t be considered the 17th greatest movie of all time.
I first saw this back in high school. I kind of thought it was over rated. Though, it’s funnier than I remember it being. Maybe I wasn’t grown up enough to appreciate the humor when I was in the 11th grade. And who doesn’t love a little Simon and Garfunkel?
