Because today is National Pasta Day, our Sunday Scribblings prompt for this week is Pasta. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…
I don’t often give pasta a lot of thought. I mean, I like pasta and dishes involving pasta… But I’m not one who wildly obsesses over this particular food. So I’m not sure how much I’ll really have to say based on today’s prompt…
Let’s just do a rundown of pasta dishes that I really like…
- Lasagna… duh.
- Spaghetti… but it has to have a good sauce with meat mixed in. Just spaghetti with runny tomato sauce ain’t gonna cut it.
- Chicken Alfredo… the pasta involved here could be fettuccini, penne, bowtie… the chicken can also be replaced with various forms of seafood (shrimp, scallops, etc.).
- Macaroni and cheese… yeah, I count this as a pasta dish.
I guess that’s really not much. I’m sure people may have expected ravioli to make the list but I’ve never really been a fan. I mean, I’ll eat it if it’s presented to me, but it’s never a go-to for me. Oh, and the 12-year-old in me still likes Chef Boyardee’s ABCs & 123s canned pasta with meatballs. But I’m not sure they still make that.
I will say this: I hate pasta salad of any kind. I don’t care what’s in it or what’s been added to it or what you’ve done to it to make it look colorful and tasty. I cannot stand the thought of eating cold pasta. That means no macaroni salad, either. If pasta isn’t hot, then it’s just a slimy mess in my opinion.
Also (and I know it’s just bread on top of bread), but all of those hot pasta dishes I mentioned above are made better when a good, thick slice of garlic bread is included. Even with the mac & cheese.
Anyway… that’s all I’ve got. And now I’m hungry. So I think I’ll go heat up a frozen lasagna and call it an early lunch.
Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.
Be sure to come back on Wednesday for the next Sunday Scribblings prompt! Encourage other bloggers to challenge themselves with the prompt! Remember that there are no rules for what you write, other than responding to the prompt! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, biography, instruction… it’s all up to you!
My favourite lasagna is an alfredo based veggie one and I couldn’t find it so I got some other veggie kind and idk if I’m excited for it haha
But I totally agree it needs garlic bread!!

Yeah, I’m Italian so it kind of goes hand in hand. I’m not really a tomato sauce girl, preferring pesto or Alfredo sauce. Ravioli and shaped pasta rather than spaghetti. Thanks for making me want pasta now. I am watching carbs so haven’t had real pasta in almost 2 years!
