Number

This week, our Sunday Scribblings prompt is Number. If you decide to write a post based on this week’s prompt, be sure to go back here and share your link so everyone can see how you interpreted things! Here’s what I did with it…

It’s really fitting that this week’s prompt is “number” because I got an alert from WordPress yesterday that I now have 1,000 followers on this blog.

One. Thousand.

I didn’t plan ahead or I would have sent out invitations for a celebration like Paul threw a couple weeks ago when he hit 6,000. I don’t have any cheese cubes to offer. But I do have some frozen tater tots I can throw in the oven. I’ve got Gremlins 2 playing in the background, so that’ll be our entertainment when things slow down.

It’s at the part where the movie gets real meta and the gremlins take over the movie in the theater and Hulk Hogan threatens to take the gremlins out unless the put the movie back on. Then he breaks the fourth wall and apologizes to the audience. Cinema at its finest.

You’ll have to excuse the mess, I haven’t had a chance to take out the trash, so I have a couple of bags tied up next to the door ready to go. If anyone wants to grab one on their way out and toss it in the nearby dumpster, you’d really be doing me a solid.

Anyway, it’s taken me five years to gain 1,000 followers and, honestly, I’m not sure what’s drawn everyone to my blog. I’m genuinely curious about what may have grabbed your attention here at The Confusing Middle and what may have kept you coming back.

If you’ve been following along for any length of time, let me know down in the comments what convinced you to click that follow button.

Now, I’m sure I won’t get a thousand responses to that request. I see the stats. I know how many people actually read this thing regularly. But whether you happen to be someone who started following my posts five years ago or you just clicked follow last week, I really would like to know what it is that’s kept you coming back.

Whether you want to let me know that or not, I want to say thank you. I appreciate the follows. I appreciate the likes. I appreciate the comments. Hopefully I can keep writing blog posts that will keep you entertained from time to time.

So raise your glasses. Here’s to all one thousand of you! And to one thousand more!

Thanks to everyone who participated this week and shared your links! Please visit their blogs, give them a follow, and take a look at how they interpreted the prompt.

  1. Congratulations on 1000 followers! Probably for the best there are no cheese cubes – the heat would make them all soft. That fancy little notification WordPress sent you just reminded me that they sent me nothing for 6000 followers. NOTHING. Oh well.

I can’t remember why I followed your blog, but I enjoy following you because you write about what you’re passionate about, don’t try to be someone different, and are the voice of reason on many topics. Your posts never negatively effect my day and really, that’s all I can ask out of anyone I follow.

  2. Congratulations! On such short notice, I am bringing Cheese Pizza to your party.
Like Paul, I don’t remember why or when I started Following you…Maybe I am a Stalker, in disguise. But, your topics keep me interesting and keep me smiling.
