Abducted In Plain Sight

Okay, I took the time to watch this documentary yesterday and… I just… WHAT?!

Have you watched this thing yet? Ten minutes in and I can guarantee that the calmest among you will be screaming at your televisions.

It is disturbing. It is disgusting. And it will leave you wondering how there can be people this frustratingly naive in the world.

That’s really all I want to say about it.

But, I would like to direct you to Twitter where you can get a really good laugh by doing a search for #AbductedInPlainSight.

If you have Netflix, go ahead and watch the documentary. But I’m not sure you have to put yourself through that to enjoy the humor on the Twitter.

Have you seen Abducted in Plain Sight? What did you think? Are myself and others on social media being too harsh considering real people are involved and went through this traumatic ordeal? Let’s discuss…

  1. I actually just watched it for the second time yesterday; since my friend hadn’t seen it, I made her watch it (I’m such a good friend). But honestly I wanted her opinion since she’s a mom of 3 and I don’t have kids. And she agrees with me: the parents should have never been able to procreate. Seriously! We have to take a standardized test to obtain a driver’s license, but not to have children!?!???!

If there were a test needed to pass in order to conceive children and one of the questions was, “I would let my best friend sleep with my child in her bed whenever he wanted,” and they answered yes, that right there would tell you all you need to know.

Lastly… GGGGAAAAAAHHHHHH! People can be absolutely, incomprehensibly stupid!!!

    • One of the best moments in the movie Parenthood is when Keanu Reeves delivers this line…

“You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog. You need a license to drive a car. Hell, you need a license to catch a fish. But they’ll let any butt-reaming a**hole be a father.”

  2. Okay, I just watched this. When I was growing up, doors were left unlocked and neighbors trusted neighbors. Like this families time, Pedophile was not a term that was even conceived of. I was confused at first because I thought the man was a Pastor. I think I was mistaken but I believe they did meet him through church. He had a family with young children of his own, why would they doubt? Threats against their family? Yes, I believe most people would or at least would consider signing to make it all go away and not make things worse.
Having been in an abusive relationship, I know what it’s like to be brainwashed. I believe the whole family needs serious help to get over the feelings they have.
This reminds me a lot of Jim Jones and the Guyana Cult of the 70’s. Do you blame all the victims and their families for being naive in their beliefs?
