The Confusing Middle’s Top 10 Blog Posts of 2016

I did this last year. I took a look back at the previous year and made a list of the blog posts that got the most traffic throughout the year. It was simple, as I’d only been keeping up with this blog for a year at that point. Today marks my second blogiversary, so I’m strategically filtering what’s on the list. I don’t mean I’m messing with the top 10. It just means that I won’t be including anything that was written in 2015 and, for whatever reason, kept getting lots of traffic in 2016.

Also, I don’t think that these necessarily reflect my personal top 10 blog posts of 2016. That’ll come later this week. So here are these. If you missed them the first time, be sure to check them out.

The Death and Life of Superman - Christopher Reeve10. The Death and Life of Superman (February 10, 2016)
This was a simple book review. I can only assume it was a mildly popular post because Superman.

9. Life Story: Chapter Sixty One (May 19, 2016)
This, I’m pretty sure, was actually the last entry in my Life Story series of posts. Not sure why that is. It’s not like my life ended with those few stories I told about high school. ‘Cause I’m still here. Maybe that’s something I can come back to in 2017. Anyway, this one was all about the time my dad underwent heart surgery. It changed our lives.

Zack and Kelly - 18. Why Zack and Kelly Never Should Have Broken Up (March 8, 2016)
I think that title is pretty self explanatory. Unless you’re not aware that I’m referring to the Zack and Kelly of Saved by the Bell. In which case, shame on you. Watch the show. Then come back and read that blog post.

7. Movies w/ Jeff: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25, 2016)
One of the dual movie reviews I did with Jeff over at Notes from the Trail. I liked it. He didn’t. Neither of our opinions have changed at this point.

6. Sticking to Your Convictions (July 21, 2016)
While I was on vacation, a number of friends stepped up to fill in for me and wrote some guest posts. This one, by Alex at Only Bad Chi, was particularly popular.

5. Announcement (April 1, 2016)
So… this whole blog post was nothing more than an elaborate April Fool’s prank. No one got too upset over it in actual blog comments. But when I linked it to Facebook, there were a lot of people who were super excited for me and then super bummed when they found out I’d made it all up.

Chandler - Fear and Self Loathing4. #DescribeYourselfin3FictionalCharacters (September 25, 2016)
Remember when this was a thing on the Twitter? I sure do. Jess, from You’re Fine, used it as a blog post. I liked the idea. So I stole it. It would not be the last time I stole an idea from her. Probably wasn’t the first time, either.

3. The New Definition of Awkward (April 16, 2016)
This post was literally just a sentence describing an awkward situation followed by a gif of Donald Glover. Never underestimate the popularity of Childish Gambino.

2. Remembering Anne (August 7, 2016)
My way of paying tribute to a special lady who touched a lot of lives.

5 Ways to Spend Leap Day - Quantum Leap1. The Top 10 Episodes of Quantum Leap (February 29, 2016)
Who knew that a list of my favorite Quantum Leap episodes would be so popular? Who knew that a sci-fi show about a guy lost in time would be so popular so many years after it was unceremoniously canceled?

There you have it. These are the top 10 posts voted on by your patronage. Come back Wednesday for my 10 favorite posts of the year. Some of these might overlap, but I’m not sure. I think to do my 10 favorite, I’m going to have to actually read through everything I posted in 2016. D’oh… what was I thinking?
