Were You Confused About Where You Were?

In the world of banking, the people on the front lines of the industry are known as tellers. These are the people who are expected to help customers with all of their day to day banking needs. It is often a thankless and miserable position to hold. These are their stories. These are their legends…

Once, this woman came to the drive through and sent in a wad of bills. When I greeted her, she responded by saying, “All I want is a book of stamps.”

I’m sorry, does the drive through lane at my bank look like the post office?

That’s what I wanted to say. What I really did was just apologize. I said that we didn’t sell stamps, then directed her to the post office across the street.

She looked at me like I was crazy. “I’ve never heard of a bank that didn’t sell stamps!” Well, you have now.

And, really? ‘Cause I’d never heard of a bank that did sell stamps. One of my co-workers had been working there for 20 years. She’d never had anyone ask her for stamps in all that time.Bank Teller 4
